Large Snow Blowers - Do You Need One?

!±8± Large Snow Blowers - Do You Need One?

If you live where you get a lot of snow during the winter, think you might just need a big snow blower? If you have a very large area that you remove snow from, a big snow blower will work just fine. Even snow that is really wet will need one of these big machines to move it..

Gasoline engine powers all big snow blowers. Yes they have some maintenance to do, but if you need power, you have to use one of these larger 4 stroke engines. The mass majority of these made today have an electric start on them. Usually you just plug them into your house outlet and start your engine. Then it is just a matter of unplugging it and start snow blowing.

The size of the path for most is around 24 inches wide and some will even take up to a 23 inch deep bit out of the snow. They are what is called a 2 stage thrower. There typically is and 12 inch or so auger that turns at a slower rate than the single stage machines. Behind the auger is an impeller to throw the snow out of the chute.

The chutes on the large snow blowers are not only adjustable from left to right, but you can aim it high or low. You have greater control over where the thrown snow is going to be thrown. This is nice one confined areas, and also during windy days. You really do not want to throw snow into the wind. Same as spitting in the wind!

The wheels do all the driving so you will only need to aim the snow blower where you want it to go. Some of the largest machines will have a variable drive in them. This lets you travel at more than one speed. This is for forward and also in reverse directions.

You will have grease fitting on the very best ones so that you can keep them lubricated up. This saves on the wearing out of the rotating areas of the bearings. You will also get some spar shear pins for the augers and impellers. This is in case you accidentally run into something and jam the auger or impeller. You will not break anything and all you need to do is replace the shear pin on the drive to get the machine up and running again.

No matter what large snow blower you get, you will have the capability to move a lot of snow in a short amount of time. Some come with lights so you can even clear snow in the dark.
